Volunteering at Rogers-Herr

Volunteering at Rogers-Herr

We know that most parents out there really want to help their child's school, but what we hear most from parents is that they have no idea how. Well here's a long list of all of things things our teachers could really use your help with! To volunteer, please contact your child’s teacher or email the PTA President, Sabrena Mervin-Blake at justtheblakes@verizon.net.
  • Read with students
    • “Listen to them read and help with pronunciation and comprehension AND read out loud to them - they really learn even if they are listening and following along! ” – Amie Lengyel, 6th Grade Language Arts Teacher
  • Check out books in the library
    • “Ms. Umbarger, our librarian, has no assistant.   It would be very helpful for her to have parent assistance at the circulation desk checking out books. The work is very easy and frees her up to do the many things around school that are necessary to support teachers,” Dov Rosenberg, RHMS technology and testing guru
  • Help in the art room
    • “I always welcome parents; it's great to have an extra adult with some of our projects,” Joanne Andrews, Visual Arts
  • Talk with students about various jobs/careers - not just for Career Day
    • “ I would love to have parents to come in and share their work experience and give advice to students,” Crysta Hines, Business Education Teacher
  • Participate in our Annual Career Day in February
  • Allow a student to shadow you at your businesses or organizations
