History Rogers-Herr was founded in 1967 by lifelong Durham teachers Maude Rogers and Margurite Herr. Our school began as a junior high school with seventh and eighth grade students, but expanded to include sixth graders several years later. Rogers-Herr did not become a year round school until 2001.
Our Teachers Our school has less than 650 students. Benefiting from a smaller class size, our highly trained faculty is able to focus on your child’s needs in order to attain the knowledge and skills needed to stay competitive in high school and beyond. Many teachers offer tutorials after school, providing a time in which students may have extra help with their homework. Encouraging and kind, our teachers push students to do their best while fostering a caring and safe environment.
Core Classes Our core classes help students attain the knowledge they need as determined by the NC Standard Course of Study. In addition to Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science, students also have the opportunity to take the following advanced classes:
Pre-algebra
Algebra 1
Geometry
